This apprenticeship course is for individuals who want to gain the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours required to carry out the role of a plant operator in the construction industry.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to check, prepare and safely operate a variety of plant machines that are used onsite in the construction sector. On this apprenticeship, the individual will undertake a range of non-operational activities, such as checking, maintaining and cleaning machines. They will also learn to direct and guide other plant and vehicles, carrying out the role of a plant and vehicle marshaller, and help to load plant onto or off a transporter when it is delivered to another site.
This apprenticeship may give the individual the opportunity to progress to become a lead operator, supervisor or manager, or even set up their own contracting company in the future.
